For efficient performance of a Membrane Technology Based Caustic Soda Plant, clean brine is to be supplied to the electrolyzer. Brine with impurities reduces the permeability of the membrane, increases the electrolysis voltage, shortens the service life of membrane thus increases the plant running cost. Therefore, good filtration equipment is essential. The clarity of the brine after thickener varies depending upon load fluctuations, temperature change, change in the property of slurry and floc. In the Membrane Technology Based Caustic Soda Plants, for filtering the brine, a precoat Pressure Leaf Filter, which has the advantage of producing stabilized, high-grade clean brine, is commonly used.

  • A uniform and consistent result is achieved in the filtration.
  • No necessity to open the vessel for cleaning of the leaves. Removal of the cake and cleaning of the leaf is achieved without opening the vessel within a short period.
  • Pneumatic cylinder assembly provided for opening / closing of the top cover. This helps in easy and quick maintenance and checking of the internals without additional labour.
  • Due to the unique design, wear and tear of the internals is reduced to a minimum. Hence, less breakdowns, resulting in minimum requirements of spares for continuous operation. Therefore the operating costs are minimal.
